The Larnaca Airport ( Larnaca International Airport , IATA : LCA , ICAO : LCLK ) is the airport of the city of Larnaca and the main international airport of the Republic of Cyprus .

Larnaca Airport is located eight kilometers south of Larnaca and 40 kilometers southeast of Nicosia .

The airport is accessed via the A3 . Larnaca city center can be easily reached by taxi (fixed price) and city bus routes 431, 440, 418, 419 and 417. These buses depart from the departure level of the airport. There is a small bus station for long-distance buses on the arrivals level; these head for the cities of Agia Napa , Limassol and Nicosia, among others .

After the closure of Nicosia airport due to the Cyprus conflict , a new international airport was provisionally opened in 1974 on an old British military airfield. In 1975 the prefabricated terminal was built.

A new terminal was opened in November 2009. It has an area of ​​98,000 m² and has 16 passenger boarding bridges. Hermes Airports Ltd. is licensed to operate the terminal. hired a Cypriot-French-Greek company. A further expansion was planned until 2013, but was postponed indefinitely due to the low increase in passengers. The old terminal was originally supposed to be demolished, but was then acquired by a Chinese company and a trade center for Chinese companies is planned.

Airlines and Destinations

Various European airlines offer flights. In German-speaking countries of the Larnaca airport, among others, is Frankfurt and Munich with Lufthansa , Berlin with easyJet , Vienna with Austrian Airlines and Zurich with Edelweiss Air served. There are also seasonal connections from other German-speaking cities.
