Lars Grossen (born February 3, 1990 in Frutigen ) is a former Swiss skier who began his career as a Nordic combined athlete and later was active as a ski jumper .

Career

Nordic combination

Grossen made his international debut on March 1, 2003 at a junior competition in Le Brassus and finished in 23rd place. Until 2008 he competed regularly in FIS races . His best result was a sixth place in Oberstdorf on October 13, 2007. At the Junior World Championships 2007 in Tarvisio , Grossen finished ninth with Joel Bieri , Tim Hug and Tommy Schmid . On January 18, 2008, he made his debut in the B World Cup in Chaux-Neuve and finished 61st. Two days later, Grossen finished 52nd. At the Junior World Championships 2008 in Zakopane , Grossen achieved the following results: Gundersen 44th, Team 5th and Sprint 28. At the end of the season he started again in the B World Cup in Pragelato , but missed the jump again in 50th place the points.

In the next two years (2008–2010), Grossen mainly started in the Alpine Cup . With a few exceptions, however, he did not achieve any great success. He achieved an absolute outlier to the top on October 4, 2009 with a fourth place in Oberstdorf . During this time, Grossen also competed in a total of eight B World Cups. His best result was a 32nd place on January 23, 2010 in Bischofshofen . A few days later he took part in the 2010 Junior World Championships in Hinterzarten in the Gundersen discipline and finished 52nd. In 2010 he decided to switch to ski jumping.

Ski jumping

Like many Swiss Nordic combined athletes, Grossen had already taken part in Swiss ski jumping championships before 2010. In 2007 he won the junior bronze medal and even gold in 2008 . Grossen also took bronze in the team in 2009 . After switching to ski jumping, he made his debut in the FIS Cup in Einsiedeln on October 8, 2010 , but missed the second round as 34th. In the second competition he got his first FIS Cup points in 19th place. Grossen made his debut in the Continental Cup on December 27, 2010 . However, he was disqualified. In the second competition, Grossen took 64th place. In this season he went in the Continental Cup in Titisee-Neustadt (55th place) and Kranj (twice 60th place) at the start.
