Lars Olof Larsson

Lars Olof Larsson (* 1938 in Västerås ) is a Swedish-German art historian and was head of the Art History Institute in Kiel from 1980 until his retirement in 2003 .

Life

Lars Olof Larsson studied art history , German and comparative literature in Stockholm , Berlin (FU) and Vienna . From 1965 to 1967 he was a fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the Central Institute for Art History in Munich and at the University of Bonn .

In 1967 he received his doctorate on the Dutch sculptor Adrian de Vries . This was followed by teaching at the Universities of Stockholm and Gothenburg , a stay at the Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies in Florence in 1971/72 and a visiting professorship in 1973 at Boston University . After his habilitation in 1980, he was appointed to the newly created C-4 professorship for art history at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel , where he was head of the Art History Institute until his retirement in 2003.

In 1991, thanks to a one-year research grant, he worked at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIAS) in Wassenaar .
