Lars Seniuk

Lars Seniuk (* 1989 in Norderstedt , Schleswig-Holstein , Germany) is a composer , conductor , trumpeter and university professor. He is considered an exceptional talent on the German jazz scene .

education

After completing classical trumpet training with Hans-Jörg Packeiser , Seniuk studied jazz trumpet as a young student at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater and, after graduating from high school, at the Jazz Institute Berlin . He then completed a degree in composition and jazz composition at the HfMT Hamburg. Seniuk was a member of the State Youth Jazz Orchestra Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein and became a member of the Federal Jazz Orchestra at the age of 17 .

Artistic activities

As a trumpeter, he moves in different styles between traditional jazz , bebop and avant-garde jazz with influences from microtonal music and new music . He played with the NDR Bigband , the Jazz Kollektiv Berlin, the Adrian Kleinlosen Quintett, the Berlin Composers Orchestra and the Global Music Orchestra.

At the age of 16 he formed his first professional big band . Seniuk became artistic director of the State Youth Jazz Orchestra Hamburg in 2014 at the age of 24. He is also the director of the New German Art Orchestra, with which he released the album Pendulum ( Mons Records ) in 2015 , which received an enthusiastic response from critics and the media.

Pedagogue

Seniuk teaches at the music academies in Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg and Weimar. He is the artistic director of the Hamburg State Youth Jazz Orchestra, the top ensemble of the Hamburg jazz promotion funded by the Hamburg State Music Council . He also teaches professional trumpeters and music students in jazz and classical music and gives jazz, big band and conducting workshops across Germany. His students include several trumpeters from the Hamburg Philharmonic and the Hof Symphony Orchestra.

social commitment

In October 2015 Seniuk founded the non-profit initiative Mit Another through Music, which initiates, carries out and supports music projects for refugees nationwide.
