Laser 4000 on an upwind course .

The Laser 4000 is a racing dinghy from the laser class family . The Laser 4000 is sailed by two people. It is a one-design class and no structural changes may be made.

Equipped with a gennaker and trapezoids , the Laser 4000 unfolds its strength above all on downwind courses .

Weight compensation

On regattas , lighter sailing crews have to take ballast weights on board, which are attached to the middle of the hull . As a result, lighter crews have the disadvantage that their (anyway lower) weight can be less effective when riding - to compensate for the heel . In order to compensate for this disadvantage, the Laser 4000 allows lighter crews to attach the exercise structures further to the outside, whereby the lower weight can be offset by the lever principle . This structural-technical measure can be found in more and more new classes of dinghies.
