Lauchlan MacLean
Lauchlan (II.) MacLean (born July 21, 1805 in Danzig ; † May 7, 1879 in Berlin ) was a German administrative and ministerial official and parliamentarian.
Life
Lauchlan (II.) MacLean was the son of Lauchlan (I.) McL, * December 22nd, 1768, +1832, and of Marie Dorothea McL, nee. Beerbohm * January 17, 1788, + January 26, 1834. His grandfather Archibald McL, * 1736 in Grishipoll, Isle of Coll , +15.10.1810 in Königsberg (Prussia) , a Scottish merchant, had immigrated to Danzig in 1753. He had two sisters, Mathilde, * 25.6.1801 in Danzig, +1846 in Lichtenhagen b. Königsberg, and Helene, married. Hoene, * December 26th, 1803 in Charlottenburg (today Berlin Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf), +1868 in Danzig.
Lauchlan attended the Conradinum in Jenkau and the grammar school in Schulpforta . From 1823 he studied philology , philosophy and law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . In 1824 he became a member of the Corps Borussia Göttingen. After graduating, he entered the Prussian civil service. In 1835 he became a government assessor in Posen and in 1836 a councilor in Erfurt.
After MacLean had worked briefly at the consistory in Magdeburg , he became a laborer at the Prussian State Council in 1843 . A year later he moved to the Prussian Ministry of Commerce, where he worked as a councilor, senior councilor and most recently director of the department for public buildings.
From 1850 to 1855 MacLean sat in the Prussian House of Representatives , from 1850 to 1852 as a member of the Gumbinnen 1 constituency, and from 1852 to 1855 as a non-attached member of the Königsberg 1 constituency.
From 1864 to 1877 he was chairman of the Club of Berlin and from 1874 to 1879 he was in charge of the lawless society in Berlin .
Lauchlan II was married to Auguste Emilie McL, b. Guenther, * May 16, 1813 in Berlin, + June 17, 1848 ibid. He left three children: Marie, * April 16, 1837 in Erfurt , married. 18.3.1862 with Ernst Heim, + ?, Helene, * 18.8.1839 in Erfurt, +18.8.1910 unreservedly in Berlin and Lauchlan (III.) McL, * 29.7.1841 in Erfurt, + July 1906 in Rostock , July 27, 1869 with Minette McL, b. Küstner. He is the great grandfather of Harry McL .
