Laulara is an East Timorese administrative office ( Portuguese Posto Administrativo ) in the municipality of Aileu . The administrative headquarters are in Suco Madabeno .

geography

Until 2014, the administrative offices were still referred to as sub-districts .

The Laulara administrative office forms a narrow strip between the municipality of Dili in the north and the Aileu administrative office in the south. In the west are the municipalities of Ermera and Liquiçá , in the east the administrative office of Remexio . Until the 2015 regional reform, Laulara had an area of ​​60.87 km². Now there are 66.73 km².

The sucos Bocolelo , Fucuculau and Maneluma were dissolved with the territorial reform in 2004, but Bocolelo was created again in 2017, so that Laulara is now divided into six sucos: Bocolelo, Cotolau ( Kotolau ), Fatisi , Madabeno , Talitu ( Talito ) and Tohumeta .

Residents

The administrative office has a population of 7,090 (2015), of which 3,646 are men and 3,444 women. The population density is 106.2 inhabitants / km². The largest language group here are the speakers of the national language Mambai .

history

At the end of 1979 there was an Indonesian camp in Tohumeta for East Timorese who were to be relocated by the occupiers for better control.

In 1984 the residents of Fatisi were deported because their Suco was suspected of being a FALINTIL base. They were taken to Dili and Aileu. The Suco remained uninhabited until 1990.

During the crisis in East Timor in 1999 , there were also acts of violence and deportations in what was then the Laulara sub-district. Houses were burned down by the AHI militia ( Aku Hidup dengan Integrasi / Indonesia ) in Talitu and families were deported to the Indonesian West Timor .

68% of households grow cassava, 66% corn, 58% coconuts, 54% coffee and 53% vegetables.

From the UNDESA ( United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs ) a municipal was between 2005 and 2008 solar plants built and restored seven water systems.

Sports

Laulara is home to the Sport Laulara e Benfica football club , which became the first champions of the Futebol Amadora league in 2016 .
