Laura Fogli

Laura Fogli (born October 5, 1959 in Comacchio ) is a former Italian marathon runner .

In 1981 she was fifth in the European Cup Marathon and fourth in the New York City Marathon . The following year she won the silver medal at the European Athletics Championships in Athens and again came fourth in New York City. In 1983 she was fourth in the Avon Marathon , sixth in the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki and second in New York City.

At the premiere of the 1984 Olympic Women's Marathon in Los Angeles , she finished ninth. That same year, it came third in New York City. In 1985 she was fourth in the IAAF World Cup marathon , second in the Pittsburgh Marathon , sixth in the European Cup marathon and again third in New York City. In 1986 she won in Pittsburgh, won silver at the European Championships in Stuttgart and came third in New York City for the third time in a row.

At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988, she finished sixth in her personal best of 2:27:49 h. For the second time that year she finished second in New York City. Another third place in the New York City Marathon in 1989 was followed by victory in the Venice Marathon in 1990 . In 1991 she came in 13th place in the IAAF World Cup marathon held as part of the London Marathon . In 1993 she finished fifth in the Berlin Marathon , and in 1994 she won the Turin Marathon . At the 1997 World Cup in Athens , she came in 24th.
