Lauren Francis

Lauren Francis (* in Wales ) is a Welsh opera singer ( soprano ). She lives and works in Germany .

Life

Francis studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London , at the Musikhochschule Mannheim and at the Royal College of Music in London. She was the winner of the "International Jan Kiepura Singing Competition", the so-called Elbland Festival .

After completing her studies, Francis received her first engagement at the British Youth Opera. She appeared as Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia at the South Bank Theater in London. Lauren Francis made guest appearances in Germany with the role of Queen of the Night in Mozart's opera Die Zauberflöte at the Stadttheater Freiburg im Breisgau and at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein . At the Hessisches Staatstheater Darmstadt she sang Ann Truelove in a gala performance of the opera The Rake's Progress , in the 2001/02 season she also sang Marie in Zar und Zimmermann , Angelica in Orlando furioso by Antonio Vivaldi and Suora Genofieffa in Suor Angelica .

Her repertoire also includes Gilda in Rigoletto , Mimì and Musetta in La Bohème , Micaëla in Carmen as well as several roles in operettas (Valencienne in The Merry Widow , Anna Elisa in Paganini , Angèle in The Opera Ball ).

She has made guest appearances in the United Kingdom, Poland, the Netherlands and Belgium. In Vietnam she sang on the occasion of the inauguration of the new Goethe Institute in Hanoi . In 2007 she sang the arias of the Queen of the Night as part of the concert series "Klassik auf Schleißheim Palace" in Oberschleißheim Palace . In 2008 she sang the role of Queen of the Night in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at the Welsh National Opera in Cardiff .

At the MEWO Kunsthalle in Memmingen she appeared in 2009 as Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte and in February 2010 as the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro . In the summer of 2010 she sang Konstanze in a concert performance of the Singspiel Die Entführung aus dem Serail in Schloss Ellwangen . In November 2010 she sang Violetta Valéry in Verdi's opera La Traviata at the Stadttheater Neuburg. In the summer of 2013 Lauren Francis sang Violetta in La Traviata , among others at the Freilichtspiele Tecklenburg . On April 20, 2014, it sang in the final of the DEL - Play-Offs in Ingolstadt Saturn Arena , the German national anthem.

In March 2017 she played the title role in the play Maria und die Callas in the Herrlingen Theater.

She is married to the musician, singer and actor Franz Garlik . She lives in Rottenegg .
