Lauren Hewitt

Lauren Katherine Hewitt (born November 25, 1978 in Warracknabeal , Victoria ) is a former Australian sprinter .

In 1996 she won silver over 200 m at the Junior World Championships in Sydney and came in seventh place in the 4 x 100 meter relay at the Olympic Games in Atlanta .

At the World Athletics Championships in Athens in 1997 , she was eliminated over 100 m and 200 m in the quarter-finals. In 1998 she won bronze over 200 m at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur , was fourth over 100 m and won the Australian 4-by-100-meter relay. The following year she was seventh over 200 m at the 1999 World Cup in Seville and reached the semi-finals over 100 m.

At the Olympic Games in Sydney , she reached the semi-finals over 200 m and the quarter-finals over 100 m. With the 4 x 100 meter relay, she was eliminated in the lead. In 2001 she reached the semi-finals at the World Championships in Edmonton over 200 m. At the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002 , she won bronze over 200 m and gold in the 4 x 400 meter relay .

At the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis, she was eliminated over 200 m in the semi-finals, at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens in the quarter-finals and at the 2005 World Cup in Helsinki in the preliminary stages. In 2006, she won bronze in the Australian 4 x 100 meter relay at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne .

She was Australian champion in the 100 m three times (1999, 2001, 2002) and five times in the 200 m (1999, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005).
