Laurence Bonvin (born January 25, 1967 in Sierre ) is a Swiss artist , photographer , film director and author. Her photographs and films are shown at international exhibitions. Since 2001 she has been a professor of photography at the École cantonale d'art de Lausanne , Lausanne .

Professional background

In 1991 Laurence Bonvin graduated from the École nationale supérieure de la photographie in Arles (France) with a degree in photography . Since 2001 she has been a professor of photography at the École cantonale d'art de Lausanne , Lausanne. She began her artistic career with photography, followed by film in 2011. She realized her first artistic work in Switzerland, followed by the Netherlands, Georgia, Berlin, Istanbul, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Abidjan and Dakar. The artist exhibits internationally and showed her work at film festivals, such as the Berlinale 2020 .

Bonvin's works often show the changes in the landscape in the vicinity of large cities. It addresses not only natural, but also social landscapes and deals, among other things, with the topics of exclusion and the architecture of power. Her style is very documentary.
