Laurenz Tanner (born September 7, 1668 in Herisau , † March 28, 1729 in Herisau; authorized to reside in Herisau) was a Landammann and delegate from the Swiss canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Laurenz Tanner was a son of Laurenz Tanner . In 1689 he married Barbara Züst, daughter of Captain Jacob Züst. Laurenz Tanner was the brother-in-law of textile merchant Conrad Zellweger-Tanner and an uncle of the doctor Laurenz Zellweger von Trogen and his brothers, the textile long-distance traders Conrad Zellweger-Sulser and Landammann Johannes Zellweger-Sulser . Tanner worked as an innkeeper and served as councilor of Herisau. From 1709 to 1728 he was delegate to the Diet 24 times. From 1709 to 1729 he held the office of Ausserrhoder Landammann. Tanner mediated in 1712 in the 2nd Villmerger Warbetween the conflicting parties. He was a co-signer of the Rorschach Peace Treaty of 1714. This remained controversial in Appenzell Ausserrhoden for a long time and earned him the hostility of Lorenz Wetter .
