Laurie Antonioli

Laurie Antonioli (born March 9, 1958 in Marin County , California ) is an American jazz singer and songwriter who directs vocal training at the California Jazz Conservatory .

Live and act

Antonioli began playing the guitar at the age of 16 and performed his own music as well as the contemporary songwriting repertoire. In 1975 she won the American Songwriters Contest for high school students. She studied jazz at Mt. Hood College in Gresham, Oregon . After graduation she was a member of the last band of Pony Poindexter , with whom she toured extensively in North America, but also in Europe. After a first baby break, she recorded her first album, on which she was accompanied by George Cables ; In 1987 she was involved in Joe Bonner's album New Beginnings . After another career break, she moved to Austria, where she lived from 2002 to 2006 and taught at the University of Art in Graz . She released two albums for the Aachen label Nabel Records ; on Foreign Affair she dared to merge sounds from Serbia and Montenegro with jazz.

Antonioli then moved to Berkeley as a professor at the California Jazz Conservatory to lead the facility. There she developed a curriculum for vocal training. Since 2010 she has released albums again, first American Dreams , which received good reviews, then an album with songs by Joni Mitchell . She also worked with Bobby McFerrin , Richie Beirach , Joe Henderson , Johannes Enders ( Hotel Alba ), Fritz Pauer , Sheila Jordan and Mark Murphy .
