Laurie Graham (born March 30, 1960 in Orangeville , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ski racer .

biography

Graham started her racing career at the age of nine and was appointed to the Canadian national team in 1978. In 1983 she won her first World Cup race , the downhill in Mont-Tremblant, Canada . In 1984, in Puy-Saint-Vincent , France , she celebrated Canada's first Super G World Cup victory.

Graham won five World Cup descents and one Super-G in her career. In the 1985/86 season she fought a duel at the highest level with Swiss Maria Walliser and Austrian Katharina Gutensohn to win the Downhill World Cup, but had to admit they were just beaten.

The highlight of her active racing time was winning the bronze medal in the downhill at the 1982 World Ski Championships in Schladming / Haus (AUT). At the Olympic Games in Calgary in 1988 , she finished fifth in the downhill and 13th in the Super-G. Laurie Graham retired from active ski racing in 1988.
