Lawrence Adam Nuesslein (born May 16, 1895 in Ridgefield Park , † May 10, 1971 in Allentown ) was an American sports marksman .

successes

Lawrence Nuesslein took part in eight competitions at the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp . With the small-bore rifle in a standing position, he became Olympic champion over 50 m ahead of his compatriots Arthur Rothrock and Dennis Fenton . In the team competition, too, he secured gold medal together with Rothrock, Fenton, Willis Lee and Oliver Schriver . With the army rifle in the standing position over 300 m, he had to admit defeat in the individual to Carl Osburn and Lars Jørgen Madsen and thus won bronze. He finished the team competition with Thomas Brown , Willis Lee, Carl Osburn and Lloyd Spooner in silver. In the running deer discipline , he reached seventh place in a single shot, and missed a top placement in a double shot. In the team competitions he was fourth in a double shot, while he won another bronze medal in a single shot together with Brown, Lee, Osburn and Spooner.

Three years after the Games Nuesslein was in Camp Perry with the free rifle in each of the standing stop and in three positions with the team champion . In addition, he secured bronze in the singles in the three-position fight and in the kneeling position. In 1927 in Rome and in 1928 in Loosduinen , a further bronze medal followed in the team competition of the three-position fight.

Nuesslein lived most of his life in Allentown , where he was manager of a subsidiary of Sears, Roebuck & Co. for 22 years .
