The Le Soléal is a cruise ship owned by the French cruise company Compagnie du Ponant .

history

The ship was built under construction number 6229 at the Fincantieri - Cantieri Navali Italiani shipyard in Ancona, Italy . The ship was undocked in early December 2012. After completion, the ship was delivered to Compagnie du Ponant on June 28, 2013 and christened and commissioned in Venice on June 29 . The godmother was Kiki Tauck Mahar, wife of the CEO of the US tour operator Tauck. The construction costs were given at around 100 million euros.

Technical data and equipment

The ship is powered by two electric motors with an output of 2,300  kW each. The motors act on two fixed propellers . The ship reaches a speed of up to 16  knots .

Four diesel generators each with an output of 1,600 kW ( apparent power : 2,000  kVA ) as well as a generator with an output of 800 kW (apparent power: 1000 kVA) and a generator with an output of 600 kW (apparent power: 750 kVA) are available for the power supply Available.

The ship has 132 passenger cabins and can accommodate 264 passengers with double occupancy. All cabins are outside cabins. Only eight cabins do not have their own balcony.

The hull of the ship is reinforced with ice ( ice class 1C), so the ship can also be used in the polar regions. In order to be able to bring passengers ashore during expedition cruises even in areas without port infrastructure, the ship is equipped with Zodiac inflatable boats.
