Lee Chong-hyun (born July 11, 1996 in Seoul ) is a South Korean ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Prince George Spruce Kings in the British Columbia Hockey League since January 2016 .

Career

Lee Chon-hvun began his career as a hockey player in Finland, where he was active in the youth division of Tappara . When he was 16, he returned to South Korea and played on the Sun Duck High School team . During this time, he was selected by Admiral Vladivostok in the second round of the KHL Junior Draft 2013 as the 64th player, but did not move to Russia. Instead, he went to the North American Hockey League in late 2014 , where he was on the ice first for Coulee Region Chill and then in the NA3HL for La Crosse Freeze. In 2015 he moved to the Port Moody Panthers and since January 2016 he has been playing for the Prince George Spruce Kings in the British Columbia Hockey League .

International

For South Korea, Lee Chong-hyun took part in the junior division of the U18 World Championships in 2013 in Division I and in 2014 when he was the top scorer and best preparer of the tournament, in Division II and in the U20 World Championships in 2015 and 2016 in Division II.

After Lee made his debut in the South Korean men's team in the 2015/16 season , he took part in a major tournament for the first time at the Winter Asian Games 2017 and finished second with the South Koreans behind Kazakhstan . Later in the year he played for the first time at the World Cup in Division I, in which the South Koreans achieved their first promotion to the top division.
