Leila Consuelo Martinez Ortega (born April 27, 1994 in Havana ) is a Cuban beach volleyball player .

Career

Leila played with Lianma Flores Stable from 2012 to 2016 . They reached the final of the continental tournament series in Varadero in 2012 and 2013 and won this tournament in 2014. They also finished fourth in Guatemala City , third in Antigua Guatemala and second in Trinidad and Tobago in 2014 . In 2015, after a seventh place in Grand Cayman , they took part in the World Cup in the Netherlands , where they were eliminated after the preliminary round as one of the worse thirds in the group. At the Pan American Games in 2015 they only had to admit defeat to the Argentine duo Gallay / Klug in the final. At the continental tournament in Varadero, Leila played with Lidiannis Echeverria Benitez and finished second. In 2016 Leila / Lianma finished third in the South American series in Guatemala City, won the tournament in Punta Cana and finished fourth in Varadero.

In 2017 Leila will play with Echeverria again. In the NORCECA series, Echeverria / Leila achieved tournament victories in La Paz and Grand Cayman as well as a second place in Varadero. They qualified for the 2017 World Cup in Vienna via the NORCECA preliminary decision . There they will meet the German duo Laboreur / Sude in the preliminary round .
