The flax-leaved tulip ( Tulipa linifolia ) is a species of tulip ( Tulipa ) in the lily family (Liliaceae).
features
The flax-leaved tulip is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 5 to 20 (30) centimeters. These geophytes develop onions as persistent organs. The onion shell is densely woolly at the tip. The three to nine leaves are gray-green in color, glabrous and measure 8 to 12 × 0.2 to 1 centimeters, their edge is often wavy and red. The bracts measure 2 to 5 (6) × 1.2 to 3.5 centimeters, are colored red and have a black-purple, edged basal spot or pale yellow and have a deep yellow or brownish basal spot.
The flowering time is in April and May.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.
Occurrence
The flax-leaved tulip occurs in north-east Afghanistan, north-east Iran and in west Pamir in the Pyandsch Valley on stony slopes in Schibljak and rose bushes at altitudes of (500) 1,300 to 1,800 meters.
Systematics
As Tulipa batalinii usually one was anthozyanfreie variety of Leinblättrigen tulip described. Their bracts are pale yellow and have a black-brown basal spot, the inner bracts are probably blunt.
use
The flax-leaved tulip is rarely used as an ornamental plant in rock gardens. It has been in culture since 1887 at the latest.
