Lemshausen is a district of the municipality of Rosdorf in the district of Göttingen in Lower Saxony . The Reibstein estate is also part of the Lemshausen village.

location

Lemshausen is located on the western edge of the Leinetal at an altitude of 185  m above sea level. NN about 1 km south-south-west of Mengershausen , 3 km south-west of Rosdorf and 0.5 km west of the A 7 . To the west of the village, the terrain rises significantly to the Dransfeld plateau, in the east it only slopes gently towards the Leine . The terrain cut into the west of the village as a valley is now only formed as a weak depression. The ditch flowing there flows into the Wartangergraben east of the village.

history

The oldest written mentions of the place come from the 10th century and are in the Corveyer traditions as Lyammanneshusun (§ 424, 986-988) and Liammanneshus (§ 438, 989-992). Already at the end of the 14th century, the place name Lemmeshusen had disappeared , the current form of the name appeared in 1675. In the poll tax description of the year 1689 in nine major Lemshausen be mutt , eleven small dog, a Brinksitzer , three body breeders and three Häusl Inge listed. At the end of 1910, there were 184 inhabitants in Lemshausen.

On January 1, 1973 Lemshausen was incorporated into the community of Rosdorf.

The blazon reads: Green tree rooted in the shield, divided diagonally by gold (yellow) and silver (white), right and left with 3 green branches each with 29 leaves.

Reason: The coat of arms refers to the 800-year-old local linden tree, which is represented with 29 leaves, to symbolize the originally 29 farmsteads of the village. The Hanoverian state colors yellow / white were chosen as the colors.

The Evangelical Lutheran St. Urbank Church in Lemshausen

The Evangelical Lutheran St. Urbank Chapel was consecrated in 1515. Around 1700 the timber-framed upper floor was renewed. An expansion took place in the early 19th century. The roof turret also dates from this time . The organ from the 20th century comes from the workshop of the organ builder Albrecht Frerichs.
