history

In the writings of the chronicler Lotze from Hann. Münden becomes Atzenhausen as a gift from Otto III. Mentioned from the year 990 to the Hilwartshausen monastery . Corresponding documents have not been handed down. The first surviving written mentions of Atzenhausen do not refer directly to the place, but to people named after him: Marsilius Hedenricus de Azenhusen and Henricus de Azenhusen are named as witnesses in a document with which several members of the family on January 26, 1266 von Berlepsch the monastery Mariengarten goods sold and in a document dated 14 August 1297 shall Bertoldus dictus de Azenhusen as a witness. The place itself was only mentioned in 1308, when the priest of Atzenhausen ("Iohannes plebanus in Ascenhusen") again testified that the von Berlepsch family had sold the monastery. However, archaeological finds show that the place, like most places in the region, is significantly older. In 1979, when a building pit was excavated near the church, the remains of a pit house were discovered which was dated to the turn of the 9th and 10th centuries AD.

It is believed that Atzenhausen has belonged to the Brackenburg court since 1286 . In 1370, Atzenhausen was pledged as an accessory to the Brackenburg from Duke Otto I (the Quaden) to the brothers Hermann and Heinz von Kolmatsch . Until the 19th century, Atzenhausen belonged to the Brackenberg office , which became part of the Friedland office in 1825 , and later came to the Münden office .

On January 1, 1973 Atzenhausen was incorporated into the community of Rosdorf.

Mayor

In the 2016 local elections, Atzenhausen ran without a local council. Since the SPD achieved a majority of the votes, it had the right to make proposals. Thus Ernst-Georg Washausen (SPD) was proposed as a candidate for a local mayor. This was unanimously elected and sworn in by the local council on November 7, 2016.

Since then, Mr Washausen has campaigned for the interests of the citizens of Atzenhausen and is the link to the Rosdorf municipal administration.

Mr. Washausen spent his childhood and youth in Atzenhausen and has been living in Atzenhausen again with his wife since March 2000.

Culture and sights

St. Peter's Church

Church of St. Petri in Atzenhausen

In 1308 a priest was mentioned for the first time, and in 1340 the church in Atzenhausen was also mentioned in writing. The first church building was dedicated to Saint Peter . After the demolition of the old church, a simple new church hall in the style of classicism was added to the east of the still existing medieval defense tower in 1821/22 . The three-axis building with a hipped gable roof in the east is made of quarry stone with ashlar structures and spanned with a flat barrel.

Thieplatz

Thieplatz is located in an exposed position in the village, from which the area slopes steeply to the northwest to the linden pond spring, which is now built with a brick edging and a rectangular spring pond. At Thieplatz there is an allegedly 650-year-old linden tree, which has been a designated natural monument since 1936.

coat of arms

The blazon reads: In the red shield within a golden (yellow) ring wall composed of hewn blocks , a golden (yellow) stone table.

Reason: The coat of arms refers to the well-preserved Thieplatz in the village.
