The M66 group , also known as the Leo triplet , is a small group of galaxies in the constellation Leo . It's about 35 million light years away.
The galaxy group includes Messier 65 and 66 , as well as the spiral galaxy NGC 3628 . It is often listed as a subgroup ( Arp 317 ) of the Leo I group . Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy triplet belongs to the class of galaxy groups .
