Leo Dautzenberg (born February 4, 1950 in Gillrath ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

After completing secondary school in 1966, Dautzenberg completed an apprenticeship as a banker , which he completed in 1969. In 1970 he began studying at a university of applied sciences , which he finished as a graduate in business administration . He then worked as an assistant at an auditing company and then studied economics at the University of Cologne from 1974 to 1980 . Dautzenberg works as an independent management consultant and managing director of Neuphone Handels GmbH in Übach-Palenberg .

Leo Dautzenberg is married and has four children. He's a Roman Catholic .

Political party

Dautzenberg joined the Junge Union (JU) in 1966 and the CDU in 1968. From 1973 to 1984 he was chairman of the JU district association in Heinsberg and from 1977 to 1986 deputy state chairman of the JU Rheinland.

Dautzenberg has been a member of the board of the CDU district association Heinsberg since 1973. After serving on the state board of the CDU Rhineland from 1981 to 1986, he has been a member of the state board of the CDU in North Rhine-Westphalia since 1986 . From 2000 to 2012 he was also chairman of the CDU district association in Aachen , which has been headed by the new chairman Thomas Rachel since March 16, 2012 .

Dautzenberg belonged to the district council of the Heinsberg district from 1979 to 1984 and to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from 1980 to 1998 . He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 1998 . On January 31, 2011, he resigned his mandate and became head of the “Public Affairs” department and executive board representative for the capital and thus the chief lobbyist of the conglomerate Evonik Industries . On February 1, he resigned from the Bundestag. His successor in the Bundestag was Cajus Julius Caesar .

Dautzenberg was a member of the European Union parliamentary group of the German Bundestag .

Since 1998 he has been a member of the German Bundestag and in 2004 was chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the finance committee .

From November 12, 2009 until the end of 2010, Leo Dautzenberg was the financial policy spokesman for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group, and he was also the chairman of the CDU / CSU in the Hypo Real Estate investigation committee.

Leo Dautzenberg always moved into the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Heinsberg constituency . In the 2005 Bundestag elections , he achieved 51.4% of the first votes and thus prevailed against the SPD candidate Norbert Spinrath , who received 37.3% of the votes. In the 2009 Bundestag election he won the direct mandate again with 50.4%, including against Norbert Spinrath, who only achieved 24.1%.

Views

On November 15, 2002, he voted as one of four members of the CDU-CSU parliamentary group against the extension of the Bundeswehr mission in Afghanistan ( “Enduring Freedom” ).
