Leo P. Kelley

Leo Patrick Kelley (born September 10, 1928 in Wilkes-Barre , Pennsylvania ; died November 17, 2002 in Long Beach , New York ) was an American writer. He wrote mostly science fiction and westerns .

Life

Kelley was the son of Leo A. and Regina Kelley, nee Caffrey. He studied at the New School for Social Research in New York , where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1957 . He then worked from 1959, first as a copywriter and finally as a manager for the McGraw-Hill publishing house . Since 1969 he has been a freelance writer.

In 1957 the first story Dreamtown, USA appeared in SF magazine If . His satirical novel The Coins of Murph (1971) is about a post-apocalyptic society in which chance becomes religion by chance. As Die Priester des Murph he was also translated into German. Since the 1980s, Kelley wrote mostly westerns.

In 2002, Kelley died at the age of 74.
