Leo Zimpel

Leo Zimpel (born May 18, 1860 in Vienna ; † February 5, 1923 there ) was an Austrian engraver , chaser , die cutter and medalist .

life and work

Iron panther

Leo Zimpel worked as a teacher, later a professor, for engravers, chasers and stamp cutters at the KK United Technical School and Research Institute for Iron and Steel Processing in Steyr .

He made the wooden model of the Iron Panther (also called the Steyr Panther ), a war nailing that is on the facade of the Steyr water tower .
