Leon Harris

Leon R. Harris (born before 1961) is a production designer and art director .

Life

Harris began his career on the film staff in 1961 as an uncredited draftsman on the set of the musical West Side Story . In 1965 he also worked in the same role for My Songs - My Dreams . As art director he first worked on the drama nightmare behind bars . His next film as art director was the science fiction film Star Trek: The Film , for which he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Production Design in 1980 along with Harold Michelson , John Vallone , Joseph R. Jennings and Linda DeScenna . However, the award this year went to the dance film Behind the Spotlight . Other films he has made include Barry Levinson's American Diner and Harry Winer's Space Camp . Most recently he worked again as a draftsman, including on the matte painting of Warren Beatty's comic book adaptation Dick Tracy .
