Leon ter Wielen (born August 31, 1988 in Raalte , Overijssel ) is a Dutch football goalkeeper who has been under contract in the Eerste Divisie at Achilles '29 since 2014 .

Career

Ter Wielen grew up in Ommen , halfway between Zwolle and the German border. He started playing football at the local club OZC in the F-youth. From the C-youth he played at ROHDA Raalte and went through the entire youth teams there. At the age of 17 he guarded the goal of the Raalter first team for the first time. Although ter Wielen was not his team's regular goalkeeper, FC Groningen noticed him and signed him as an amateur in 2006. He first played in the A youth team and in the second team, Jong FC Groningen . As a reserve goalkeeper for the Eredivisie squad he sat in the 2009/10 season for the first time on August 8, 2009 and a total of nine times in the league on the bench, he could not record a use.

In February 2010 ter Wielen was awarded to BV Veendam in the second division, the Eerste divisie . But he was not used in the first team in Veendam either. For the 2010/11 season he moved to FC Zwolle , where Ter Wielen's wait for the first professional game ended in October 2011. The 2-1 win against Sparta Rotterdam was one of three games in which he played for his club this second division season. In the following seasons he stayed behind Diederik Boer second man in number one position and came in the promotion season 2011/12 on nine missions. After the now renamed PEC Zwolle had signed the experienced Kevin Begois in 2013 , ter Wielen completed several weeks of trial training with second division promoted Achilles '29, but stayed in Zwolle. In addition to three league games, he played over 90 minutes in the third round of the cup in the 4-0 win against sixth division Wilhelmina '08 from Weert in the 2013/14 season . When Boy de Jong came to PEC Zwolle as the third goalkeeper in 2014, ter Wielen moved to Groesbeek a year after his trial training . In Achilles '29, the 1.95-meter-man was a regular player in the 2014/15 season after his debut on August 9, 2014 against Jong PSV (the second team of the honorary division from Eindhoven also plays second-rate); his contract was extended for one year in March 2015. By the end of the 2015 season, ter Wielen was in goal in all second division games of the season - his outgoing substitute Simon van Beers was only allowed to play the last match .
