Kevin Begois (born May 13, 1982 in Antwerp ) is a Belgian soccer goalkeeper who has been under contract with the Dutch Eredivisie representative FC Groningen since 2017 .

Career

In 2002 Begois began his professional career at the traditional Belgian club KV Mechelen . At the club, which was then promoted to the top division , the goalkeeper came to his first professional appearances during the 2002/03 season. The following year he was sold to the Dutch club Roda JC Kerkrade , which awarded him to VVV-Venlo with immediate effect . At the then second division he came to irregular missions in his first year. It was not until the 2003/04 season that he made the breakthrough in the black and yellow and fought for the regular place between the posts. He kept this until 2005, before he had to go back to Eredivisie representative Roda JC Kerkrade that summer .

There he came on October 22, 2005 in the game against Sparta Rotterdam to his debut in the top Dutch division, when he replaced the ailing Vladan Kujović . In the summer of 2006 the players and the club parted ways again. Begois finally hired at the second division Helmond Sport , where he was number one in goal. The following year he decided to change again and rejoined VVV-Venlo. There he competed from then on with Danny Wintjens . Venlo, who were first class at the time, failed to secure relegation, so that they played again in the Eerste Divisie in 2008/09. As the first in the table, Venlo managed to get promoted immediately. For the following season, the club signed the experienced Dennis Gentenaar from Ajax Amsterdam .

This was the number one of the black and yellow up to the 7th matchday and Begois moved into the second tier. After Gentenaar was injured on this match day and was replaced in the 76th minute for Begois, he kept this place until matchday 28. From there on, he competed with the younger Ruud Boffin for a place in goal. For the new season 2010/11 the borrowed Boffin left the Venloer-Klub again, so that Begois had to fight again with Gentenaar and the young Robert Boehm for the position between the posts. Begois lost the duel with Gentenaar for the time being. After the club was only able to bring in two wins by the 15th matchday, coach Jan van Dijk filled the goalkeeper position and the Belgian was used. When Willy Boessen became the new trainer in Venlo, he built on Begois. It was only in the season finale that Gentenaar was able to prevail again and pushed his competitor back onto the bench. The club finally managed to stay in the Eredivisie via the relegation games. In the summer of 2011, Begois decided to move and therefore joined the Dutch second division club FC Den Bosch . There he immediately became the new number 1.
