Leonhard Dorst

JG Leonhard Dorst (born January 8, 1809 in Regensburg ; † December 11, 1851 , buried on December 13, 1851 in Sagan ) was a German architect , construction clerk for the Duchess of Sagan, as well as heraldry and genealogist .

After studying history and heraldry, he worked primarily as an architectural draftsman, but also as a painter and heraldist and published a number of heraldic books , including above all the "Schlesische Wappenbuch" and the "Wappenbuch des Kingdom Württemberg". He was a very knowledgeable heraldist and genealogist and, through the publication of his very well executed heraldic works, has made many contributions to a better design of heraldry . He was also a member of the Upper Lusatian Society of Sciences in Görlitz .

For his services, Dorst was raised to the nobility by the Prince of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen under the name "Dorst von Schatzberg" .
