Leonid Nikolajewitsch Sobolew ( Russian Леонид Николаевич Соболев ; born June 9, 1844 near Toropez , Russia ; † October 13, 1913 in Russia ) was a Russian - Bulgarian general , politician and Prime Minister of Bulgaria .

Life

Military career

Originally from Russia , Sobolev completed a military career in the course of which he first graduated from the Nikolayevsk General Staff Academy in Saint Petersburg in 1868 . During the Russo-Ottoman War from 1877 to 1878 he was employed as a staff officer in the Russian army in Bulgaria . During the war he took part in the battles of Pleven and for the Shipka Pass . He was then adjutant to Prince Vladimir Alexandrovich Cherkassky .

Prime Minister from 1882 to 1883

On 5 July 1882, he was by Prince Alexander I to the prime minister appointed. At the same time, at the express request of the Prince, he also took over the office of Minister of the Interior . He gave up this office on April 16, 1883. From November 29, 1882 to January 26, 1883 he was also Minister for Public Education. Finally he took over the office of finance minister from March 15 to 18, 1883 . From August 15, 1883 to September 19, 1883 he was again Minister of the Interior.

After political disagreements with the Prince and the Conservative Party, he resigned as Prime Minister on September 19, 1883 and handed this office over to Dragan Kiriakow Zankow .

Following his resignation, he returned to Russia, where he wrote a book on contemporary Bulgarian history in 1886 ("Към най-новата история на България").

Also in 1886 he published the book "The First Prince of Bulgaria" .
