Leopold Wandl Prize
The Leopold Wandl Prize is an Austrian literary prize that has been awarded to Austrian authors for poetry and prose in dialect by the committee set up by the municipality of Grein for the maintenance of dialect poetry .
The prize was named after the dialect poet Leopold Wandl .

The aim of the initiators is to revive folk culture and promote dialect poetry. The award ceremony traditionally takes place in the historic Grein City Theater . In the 16th competition in 2010, 183 entries were submitted.
So far, the prize money has been financed by the municipality of Grein. New donors have to be found for the further implementation, as they no longer see themselves in a position to do so.

Provincial government, Gallneukirchen, board member and later chairman of the Stelzhamer Association and author of numerous specialist articles on cultural work in Upper Austria, Franz Neudorfer, Pfaffing, mayor, district school inspector, local researcher and author of several local history specialist articles
- in 2006 Max Faistauer , Sankt Martin bei Lofer , head of the “Regional Language and Literature” working group at the Salzburger Bildungswerk , awarded a recognition prize from ORF Salzburg for dialect poetry (1985) and the Tobi Reiser Prize (2000)
- in 2010 Franz Gumpenberger , Karl Hackl and Karlheinz Sandner

The literary competition took place annually from 1989 to 1998 and has been advertised every two years since then. The jury selects ten winners from each of the submissions. The prize money paid out to the first three is financed by the municipality of Grein.
