Leopold Philipp Montecuccoli

Prince Leopold Philipp Montecuccoli (* 1663 ; † January 6, 1698 ) was a general of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation .

Career

Leopold Philipp Montecuccoli was the son of the famous imperial field marshal and prince Raimondo Montecuccoli and Maria Margareta von Dietrichstein (1637–1676), daughter of Prince Max von Dietrichstein , chief steward of Emperor Ferdinand III.

Leopold Philipp was - like his father - a soldier in the Imperial Habsburg service . He took over after his father's death in 1680 as a colonel whose Cuirassier - Regiment , climbed on 3 September 1685 to generalfeldwachtmeister and on October 6, 1688 for Field Marshal Lieutenant on. He became captain of the imperial body guard , chamberlain , secret councilor and knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece . 1689 he became the Holy Roman Emperor in the Imperial Prince collected.

Since his marriage to Countess Maria Antonia Colloredo had remained childless, the princely line of Montecuccoli died out with his death in 1698 .
