Leslie M. Gumbi
Leslie Mbangambi Gumbi (born March 7, 1959 in Johannesburg , † July 11, 2012 ) was a South African politician and diplomat .

Leslie M. Gumbi studied political science , was a member of the ANC and an employee of an NGO .
In 1995 he joined the Foreign Affairs Office (DIRCO) of the Republic of South Africa. From 1996 to 2000 he was a delegation counselor to the South African mission at the UN headquarters in New York City . In 2000 he was promoted to the rank of Director in the Office of Foreign Affairs and was involved in peacekeeping, disarmament and matters of the AU Security Council . From February 2004 to August 2005 he was a delegate of the South African Mission to the United Nations Office in Geneva . From September 2005 to December 2009 he was the South African ambassador for Austria , Slovenia and Slovakia , as well as a permanent representative to the organizations of the United Nations and other international organizations in Vienna (UNO, UNIDO , CTBTO , IAEA ). From 2009 he headed the United Nations Department in the South African Foreign Office.
