Xolisa Mfundiso Mabhongo (* 1972 in Umtata , Transkei ), MA PA, is a South African diplomat .

Xolisa Mfundiso Mabhongo comes from the ethnic group of Xhosa and even grew during the period of apartheid in Homeland Transkei on. He later became involved in the student movement and is now a member of the African National Congress  (ANC). Mabhongo studied Politics and Journalism at Rhodes University in Grahamstown , completed post-graduate training at Oxford and a Masters in Public Administration from Columbia University in New York.

After the turnaround in South Africa, he joined the public service at the Office for Foreign Affairs  (DIRCO) of the Republic of South Africa in 1995 . In 1999 he received his first foreign mission and from 1999 was a delegate of the Mission to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva , then from 2001 to 2004 a consultant at the Permanent Mission of South Africa to the United Nations in New York . From 2006 to 2009 he was Chief Director of the UN Department of the South African Foreign Office. Since 2010 he has been the South African ambassador for Austria , Slovenia and Slovakia , as well as a permanent representative to the organizations of the United Nations and other international organizations in Vienna (UNO, UNIDO , CTBTO , IAEA ) - he exchanged ideas with Leslie M. Gumbi , Ambassador 2005 –2009, the office.

Mabhongo speaks isiXhosa , isiZulu , Siswati (Swazi), and English , but not Afrikaans .
