The ship was named after the name of the Russian writer Lev Tolstoy and is used on the routes Saint Petersburg - Moscow and Astrakhan - Moscow. The sister ship of the Lev Tolstoy is the Anton Chekhov (German: Anton Chekhov), the first ship in the series.

history

The river cruise ships of the Anton Chekhov class, project Q-056, ordered and built in the west for petrodollars in the 1970s by Österreichische Schiffswerften AG Linz in Korneuburg / Austria surpassed all passenger ships manufactured in the GDR and Czechoslovakia in comfort and sometimes also in Size, although the German ships of Project 302 - German designation BiFa 129М - have a length of 129 m. The previously built river cruise ships (including the three-deck ships of the Rodina class (Germany) and Project 26–37 from Czechoslovakia) could not be compared at all. Even these had no chances in the competition. Neither sooner nor later were such orders for river cruise ships possible in the history of Russia.
