Levin von der Schulenburg

Levin von der Schulenburg (born November 9, 1581 in Libbesdorf , † December 23, 1640 in Schochwitz ) was district administrator on Schochwitz, Libbesdorf and Erdeborn .

Life

He was a member of the widely ramified noble family of those von der Schulenburg and son of the Provost of Havelberg, Levin von der Schulenburg (1528–1587), and his wife Fredeke von Alvensleben (1552–1622) from Kalbe (Milde) . After attending school at Halle (Saale) high school , he enrolled at the University of Leipzig in 1590 and moved to the University of Wittenberg in 1599 . There he finished his studies in 1605. As a staunch Protestant, he allowed a public disputation at Schochwitz Castle between the Lutheran Dr. Albertus Grauerus, Rector in Eisleben, and the Reformed Superintendent Dr. Wolfgang Amling from Zerbst . Several pamphlets were written about this discussion.

In 1607 he set out on a cavalier tour of France, but returned sick in the course of the same year. In 1612 Schulenburg married his relative Elisabeth von der Schulenburg. After five years of marriage, Elisabeth died in 1617. After several years of mourning, Schulenburg married Anna von Bodendorf in 1619. In the same year he was accepted into the Fruit Bringing Society by Prince Ludwig I of Anhalt-Köthen . The lovely was given to him as a company name and quite as a motto . As an emblem, Schulenburg is awarded a rose bush with a body-colored beautiful rose that has blossomed out . Schulenburg's entry can be found in the Koethen Society Register under no.27.

Together with his relative Werner von Hahn, he became the guardian of Vollrad Ludolf von Krosigk , whose parents died in 1626 and 1627 respectively. Levin von der Schulenburg also held the office of district administrator in the Principality of Anhalt and as such he was a member of the narrower estate committee. Schulenburg died on December 23, 1640 at the age of 59 at Schochwitz Castle .
