Lev Alexandrovich Besymensky
Lev Alexandrowitsch Besymenski ( Russian Лев Александрович Безыменский ; born December 30, 1920 in Kazan , † June 26, 2007 in Moscow ) was a Russian author, historian, journalist and professor of military history at the Moscow Academy of Military Sciences .
Life
He graduated from the philosophy faculty of Moscow State University and worked as an interpreter and reconnaissance officer for Marshals Zhukov and Rokossovsky during World War II (see Great Patriotic War ) . In addition to participating in several battles, he interpreted, among other things, during the interrogation of the German Commander-in-Chief Friedrich Paulus at the end of the Battle of Stalingrad in 1943 .
After the end of the war, as part of a secret operation by the Soviet leadership, he researched the Führerbunker . Afterwards he worked as a journalist in Bonn and as a historian . He was also known as the author of numerous books on the Second World War and the German-Soviet relationship at that time. Since 1985 he has been a member of the advisory board of the Center for Studies in German History in Moscow; He took up his professorship at the Moscow Academy of Military Sciences in 1999. Most recently he worked for the Moscow magazine Novoje Vremja .
