Lex Humphries

Lex Humphries (* 22. August 1936 in Rockaway , Queens , New York ; † 11. July 1994 ) was an American jazz - drummer .

Live and act

Lex Humphries first played with Chet Baker in Europe in 1956, with Dizzy Gillespie in 1958, with the Art Farmer / Benny Golson Jazztet 1959-60 ( Meet the Jazztet ) and with Donald Byrd in 1960. He became known for working with musicians who worked with World music and jazz dealt with, Sun Ra and Yusef Lateef . He has also made records with John Coltrane , Slide Hampton , John Handy , Freddie Hubbard , Wes Montgomery , Duke Pearson , McCoy Tyner , Leon Thomas and Doug Watkins .
