Lexington is a village in Richland County in the US state of Ohio . Lexington has 4,165 inhabitants (2000 census) on an area of ​​9.5 km². Lexington is about 10 km southwest of Mansfield and about 90 km northeast of the federal capital Columbus .

The Village of Lexington was founded in 1813 by Amariah Watson, who came from Bakersville , Connecticut . He named the village in honor of the city of Lexington , Massachusetts , where the American Revolutionary War began. The place is the birth town of William C. Grimes , a politician and brief governor of the Oklahoma Territory .
