Life

Piedayesh is the daughter of an oil engineer and a fashion boutique entrepreneur. After the Islamic Revolution , the family had to emigrate in 1979 and moved to live with relatives in Wiesbaden when she was nine years old. She overcame initial language barriers with ambition and integrated herself into German society. After graduating from the Orange School in Wiesbaden, she studied business administration at the International Business School in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe from 1993 to 1997 .

After an internship at a film production company in London and Munich, she became a freelance journalist for television channels such as RTL and Pro 7 and for music producers such as BMG and Ariola. From 2000 to 2002 she was an editor at MTV Germany in Munich and Berlin, where she was also involved in the development of a fashion show called Designerama . For the music broadcaster MTV, Piedayesh shot a 45-minute documentary about the former right-wing extremist rock band Böhse Onkelz in the MTV Masters series , after the controversial broadcast of which in July 2001 the collaboration between Piedayesh and the pop music channel ended, as MTV finished the documentary in a different final cut as originally planned by filmmaker Piedayesh. As part of the research work for the documentary film, Leyla Piedayesh, who developed a benevolent attitude towards the Onkelz in the course of several encounters, accompanied the Frankfurt rock band with the camera for a year, attended their concerts, conducted interviews with the band members and was given access to Tape archive of the management behind the Böhsen Onkelz.

Inspired by knitted wrist warmers at a flea market, she founded her own fashion label Lala Berlin (Lala was her nickname when she was young). At first she knitted her designs herself. She brought out a knitting collection with which she was successful in 2004 at the Berlin fashion fair Premium . One of their trademarks was cashmere scarves with a Palestinian look. She has had her own boutique in Berlin-Mitte since 2006 .

She has been regularly represented at Berlin Fashion Week since 2007 . Their products are sold in over 250 boutiques worldwide. With a turnover of three million euros and 30 employees in 2011, she is one of Berlin's leading fashion designers.
