The Lhoist Group is the world's largest manufacturer of lime and dolomite products. In Germany, the Rheinkalk , Wülfrath group and LWB Refractories, Hilden , belong to Lhoist.

history

Léon Lhoist founded the Établissements Léon Lhoist in Jemelle , Belgium in 1924 , and the Carrières et Fours à Chaux in Dugny-sur-Meuse , France in 1926 .

Lhoist acquired a stake in Chemical Lime in Texas / USA in 1981 and took over Vápenka Čertovy schody in the Czech Republic in 1992 . In 1993 the company took a stake in the Rheinisch-Westfälische Kalkwerke in Wuppertal- Dornap , built a plant in Sainte Genevieve , Missouri / USA in 1995 , acquired Faxe Kalk in Denmark in 1996 and the lime works in Bukowa and Opolwap in Poland , and in 1997 the Rheinische Kalksteinwerke in Wülfrath , 2000 the Hindlow and Hartley lime works in Great Britain , 2001 Balthazard & Cotte in France and 2002 the Goradze , Wojcieszów and Tarnau lime works in Poland. In 2015, Lhoist acquired HeidelbergCement AG's Istein lime plant and Walhalla Kalk GmbH in Regensburg .
