Li Yan ( Chinese  李岩 , Pinyin Lǐ Yán ; born September 17, 1992 ) is a Chinese snooker player .

Career

Li Yan was one of the talentiertesten youth players in China in the years 2007 , 2008 and 2009 , a wildcard for the Shanghai Masters as well as in 2008 and 2009 for the China Open . He was only able to win his opening game once - at the Shanghai Masters 2009 against Gerard Greene ; he was then defeated in the round of 32 but to Ryan Day .

In the second tournament of the Q School he was finally able to earn a place on the Snooker Main Tour for the 2011/12 season. He got off to a very good start and qualified for the main round of the 2011 UK Championship by winning over Stuart Carrington , Andy Hicks , Jack Lisowski and Fergal O'Brien . There he lost to former world champion Shaun Murphy 3: 6. With further good results in the PTC series , he improved to 64th place in the snooker world rankings.

On August 19, 2012, Li played his first match in qualifying for the 2012 International Championship . Despite a century break of 117 points, he lost 5: 6 against his compatriot Zhang Anda .
