Lidewij worlds
Lidewij Marsia Maria Welten (born July 16, 1990 in Eindhoven ) is a Dutch hockey player who has won three Olympic medals.
Career
Lidewij Welten made his debut for the Dutch national team in 2008 . The striker was part of the Dutch team at the 2008 Olympic Games , which beat the Chinese hosts both in the preliminary round and in the final . In 2009 and 2011 she won the European Championships with the Elftal. In between, they won the silver medal at the 2010 World Cup , where the Dutch lost to Argentina in the final .
In 2012 Lidewij won worlds at the Olympic Games in London , in the final the Dutch defeated the Argentine world champions. In 2014 the World Cup took place in front of a home crowd in The Hague, in the final the Elftal won against Australia . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , the Dutch team reached the final again, where they lost in the shootout against the British . In 2017 in Amstelveen , Lidewij Welten won her third European title. At the victorious World Cup in 2018 , Welten was voted the best player of the tournament.
Lidewij Welten has (as of March 11, 2018) completed 174 international matches. She lives in 's-Hertogenbosch and has played for HC' s-Hertogenbosch for years , with this club she won the Dutch national championship title several times.
