action

Isabell and Georg Prax have just married and are starting their honeymoon in a little house in the mountains. There, in the “Seerose” house in Strobelsdorf, the couple promise each other that there should never be any secrecy or dishonesty between them. Georg's old friend Leo shows up the next morning. The painter has his bride Pucki Hildebrand in tow, and Isabell invites both of them to stay with them, while Leo and Pucki have no vacancies in the available hotels in the area. Isabell is told in passing that her newlywed husband and Pucki once had a quarrel long before Georg got together with Isabell. Therefore, the promise made to never be dishonest towards the other is kept by Georg, but also put to an initial test of patience. Jealousy boils up in Isabell when Georg and Pucki return from a trip together quite late. Isabell immediately believes that the feelings between her husband and the supposed rival have flared up again, especially since she does not believe the simple explanation for the delay. Both couples return to their apartments after their short vacation, and for the time being there is an ice age between Georg and Isabell. With Leo and Pucki's help, however, reconciliation soon takes place and the first marital crisis seems to have been overcome.

But conjugal peace does not last long. Now it is up to Georg to deal with his own jealousy. In the meantime, Isabell has resumed her old job as a secretary and has risen to the right of Director Zander from the Azet Works. Since the two practices decided to buy the house "Seerose", where they liked it so much, Isabell Zander asks for an advance payment. To do this, she has to throw herself into work even more intensively and even accompany Mr. Zander on a business trip. All of this displeases Georg so much that he suspects that Isabell's affair with her boss is behind it. Georg sees who has signed the down payment for the house purchase and is now completely sure that his wife is cheating on him. Zander wants to explain everything to Georg and therefore arrives at the practice's apartment. When the absent Georg calls home and the boss of the Azet-Werke picks up the phone, Georg's composure is finally over. He rushes to his and Isabell's apartment to catch the two of them “in flagrante” and confront them, while Isabell has gone to Strobelsdorf to the “Seerose” house to intercept her furious husband. Georg only meets Zander in his apartment - without his wife at all. The director explains the whole situation to the young husband, whereupon he hurries to Strobelsdorf. Here Isabell and Georg Prax embrace again.

Production notes

Filming began on October 4, 1944 and was completed in January 1945. Lingen shot this film almost parallel to the film Philine in the Hostiwar studios in Prague. At the end of the war in 1945 the film was in music synchronization. The world premiere took place on May 6, 1949 in Bamberg. The Berlin premiere was on September 23 of the same year in the western part of the city.

Production group leader Fred Lyssa also worked here as production and production manager. Heinrich Weidemann and Fritz Lück designed the film structures, Maria Pommer-Uhlig the costumes. Harry Dettmann took over the production management.

criticism

The film service found: "The little marriage comedy is not particularly original, but quite amusing due to the appropriate situation comedy and casual play."
