Lithuanian Foresters Association
The Lithuanian Foresters Association (Lithuanian Lietuvos Miškininkų sąjunga ) is a forester - Association with 1,500 members and 51 departments in Lithuania . The headquarters are near Kaunas , in Akademija (Studentų g. 11), at the Faculty of Forests and Ecology of Lietuvos žemės ūkio akademija .
history
The association was founded in June 1929 in Kaunas . At that time it had 300 members. They met annually. From 1936 to 1940 there was Lietuvos miškininkų draugija . In 1949, after their emigration , the Lithuanian foresters established an organizing committee that convened the meeting in Chicago in 1950 . The re-established association was active until 1990. It had 100 members. There were representatives in Australia , Canada , New Zealand and Germany . Lietuvos miškininkų sąjunga has been operating in Lithuania again since 1990 with its headquarters in Kaunas.
