Lievin de Winne (born January 24, 1821 in Ghent , † May 13, 1880 in Brussels ) was a Belgian painter .

De Winne was a student of Felix de Vigne and Henri van der Haert at the Art Academy in Ghent. He soon gained a great reputation as a portrait painter in Belgium and painted the members of the Belgian royal family , numerous aristocrats and artists in a style after Anthony van Dyck .

A portrait of Leopold I is in the Royal Museum in Brussels; this portrait served as a template for a postage stamp issued in honor of Leopold I.

In 1850 he received financial support from the Belgian government that allowed him to continue his education in Paris. He lived there from 1852 to 1855 and had a studio with Jules Breton .
