The list of rulers of Belgium shows all the kings of the state of Belgium , which has been independent since the Belgian Revolution of 1830/1831 , whereby the correct name for the king is not “King of Belgium” but “King of the Belgians”. Philippe has been ruling since 2013 .

There was a special custom of immediately calling the Belgian kings “the first”, even if they were the only bearers of the name at the time (ie Baudouin I, French: Baudouin Ier). However, this is now considered obsolete. King Philippe and King Baudouin are not or no longer named “the first”.
