Lilija Alexandrowna Wassiljewa ( Russian Лилия Александровна Васильева ; at the FIS after an English transcription Lilia Vasilieva ; born April 3, 1967 in Moscow ) is a former Russian cross-country skier .

Career

Vasilyeva had her first international success at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 1987 in Asiago . There she won the gold medal with the relay. She ran her first of a total of 36 individual World Cup races in February 1996 in Kawgolowo , which she finished classically in 16th place over 10 km. In the following years up to the 2002/03 season, she only had five more appearances in the World Cup. At the beginning of the 2002/03 season she achieved her first top ten placement and only podium finish in the individual World Cup with third place over 10 km classic in Kuusamo . In the further course of the season she came in the points ten times in the World Cup and thus achieved 28th place in the overall World Cup. In addition, she was second with the relay in Davos . At the season highlight of the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2003 in Val di Fiemme , she finished 14th in the 15 km mass start race and ninth place over 10 km classic. In the following season she reached with nine results in the points, including three top ten placements, the 40th place in the overall World Cup. In December 2003 she achieved third place with the relay in Davos and won the Continental Cup in Krasnogorsk over 15 km classic. In February 2004 she won her only World Cup victory with the relay in La Clusaz and ran her last World Cup race in Oberstdorf , which she finished in 30th place in the skiathlon . From 2004 to 2010 she mainly took part in the Eastern Europe Cup . In November 2007 in Vershina Tjoi she achieved her only podium finish in this racing series with second place over 5 km classic and took 13th place in the overall standings in the 2008/09 season. At the end of March 2005 she won the Russian championships in Syktywkar in the 30 km mass start race and in April 2007 she finished second in the mass start race over 30 km in Khanty-Mansiysk .
