Lilium amoenum ( Chin.玫红 百合, méi hóng bǎihé) is a species from the genus of lilies ( Lilium ) in the Asiatic section .
description
Lilium amoenum is a herbaceous perennial plant that reaches heights of 15 to 30 centimeters. The stem is papillary on the surface . It has between eight and twelve narrow-elliptical to spatulate leaves that are between 28 and 45 mm long and 2 to 7 mm wide. They are distributed around the stem and have one nerve.
It blooms in June with a single nodding, bell-shaped, fragrant flower . The hermaphrodite flower is threefold. The three outer bracts are lanceolate and between 30 mm and 40 mm long, 9 to 10 mm wide and slightly rolled. The three inner bracts are more oval to elliptical and slightly wider at 14 to 15 mm. The basic color of the flowers is purple-pink to purple-red with deep red points. The anthers are about 5 mm in size, the pollen are orange to brown and the filaments are about 14 mm long and sticky. The stylus is 12 mm to 14 mm long and the scar is up to 3 mm thick. The nectaries are green and not papilose on both sides. The seeds ripen in capsule fruits .
The bulbs are round and reach a diameter between 2 and 22 cm. They are covered with white lanceolate to oval scales.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.
distribution
The species is endemic to Yunnan Province in the People's Republic of China .
Lilium amoenum grows on the edges of forests and grassy places in thickets at altitudes from 1800 m to 3000 m above sea level.
Systematics
In 1922, Ernest Wilson decided to forego the first description of Lilium amoenum he had planned when he saw the type specimen of Lilium sempervivoideum in Edinburgh, because he considered them to be identical and treated Lilium amoenum as a synonym from then on. Joseph Robert Sealy did not share this view and in 1949 provided the formal first description for Lilium amoenum . In 1984 S. Yun Liang resumed the summary of the species and placed Lilium amoenum as a subspecies to Lilium sempervivoideum , but due to a formal error its description is invalid. Nevertheless, the close relationship between the two species is obvious.
