Lilium lankongense ( Chin.匍 茎 百合 / 匍 莖 百合, fú jīng bǎihé) is a species from the genus of lilies ( Lilium ) in the Sinomartagon section . The description of the species by the French botanist Adrien René Franchet was published in 1892.

Lilium lankongense is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 40 cm to 150 cm. The onions are oval and reach a diameter of about 2.5 cm to 4 cm. They are covered with white oval or oval-lanceolate scales and form brood bulbs . The stem is pale purple-brown and papilose , often it initially grows horizontally at the base. The leaves are lanceolate, three to seven-veined, between 3 cm and 10 cm long and 0.5 cm to 1.7 cm wide. They are distributed around the stem and are slightly papillary on the underside and on the edge.

It blooms from June to July with a single or up to 15 fragrant flowers nodding in a panicle . The hermaphrodite flowers are threefold. The six arranged, lancet-shaped bloom are bent back and 5 cm to 5.5 cm long and mm between 8 and 10 mm wide. The basic color of the flowers is pink with deep red points. The flower darkens with age. The anthers are purple and about 10 mm in size, the pollen are red-brown and the filaments are about 35 mm long. The stylus is 3 cm to 4 cm long and the ovary is about 2-3 mm wide and 10-13 mm long. The nectaries are papillary on both sides. The seeds mature in 1.5 cm to 2.5 cm long and about 12-20 mm wide elliptical seed pods.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.

Distribution and location

Lilium lankongense is endemic to northwestern Yunnan Province and southeastern Tibet Autonomous Region in the People's Republic of China .

The species grows on alpine meadows at altitudes from 1800 m to 3200 m.
